Smith’s Vision for Candlewick Press
Smith stated: “I’m delighted and honoured to sign up with the surprisingly skilled team at Candlewick Press, Holiday Residence and Peachtree. A Career Dedicated to Young Readers
He joins from Abrams Children’s Books, where he was SVP and author, and is going back to Candlewick after close to twenty years, where he previously acted as VP of sales. Smith has invested his 30-year-plus career in the youngsters’s publishing sector and has actually dealt with the likes of Andrea Beaty and David Roberts, Jeff Kinney, Alex Aster, Chris Colfer, Stephenie Meyer and Kate DiCamillo, along with brand names such as Celebrity Wars, Marvel, Disney, DC, My Little Horse, LEGO and Dr Seuss. He currently serves on the board of supervisors of the Children’s Book Council.
Leadership Role and Responsibilities
Smith will manage the posting checklists at Candlewick, Vacation House and Peachtree, following the departures of various other long time editors across the three residences, and have oversight of the content and design groups, with those teams reporting to him from his beginning day on 28th April.
Before signing up with Abrams in 2016, Smith was the SVP and deputy author at Little, Brown Books for Youthful Viewers. He started his job as a bookseller and aide supervisor at Waldenbooks in Brooklyn, New York City.
