
The Republic Narrative Reward shortlist features 25 stories from 7,920 entries, addressing human trafficking, parenthood, and relationships. Winners will be announced in May and June, with prizes awarded.
The Republic Narrative Reward shortlist, revealed today, features 25 “pertinent, essential and dynamic” unpublished stories chosen from a record-breaking 7,920 entrances. The stories shortlisted this year take on whatever from human trafficking and battle to parenthood and relationship.
Winners and Prizes Announced
5 winners standing for the 5 areas of the Commonwealth will be introduced on 14th May, with the total champion introduced on 25th June. The local victors will certainly get ₤ 2,500 and the total winner will get a ₤ 5,000 prize, while the tales will be released online by Granta and in an unique print collection by Paper + Ink.
Judges’ Comments on Shortlisted Stories
The author and filmmaker Dr Vilsoni Hereniko, that chaired the evaluating panel, claimed: “This shortlist of relevant, lively and vital reading is composed of the most effective 25 stories from a swimming pool of practically 8,000 access. With each other, they show why the short-story type needs to remain to be supported and advertised.”
Dr Anne T Gallagher AO, director-general of the Commonwealth Structure– the intergovernmental organisation which carries out the reward– included: “The breadth of experiences, voices, and viewpoints is awe-inspiring, and a powerful reminder of the creative energy that unifies us as a Republic of individuals. We praise those who made the shortlist; their job speaks not only to our common difficulties, but additionally to our hopes and ambitions.”
